Privacy Notice
Privacy is part of the product. This Notice explains what information Vivid may process, why we process it, who may receive it, how long we keep it, and how you can exercise your rights.
1. Scope
This Notice applies to personal information processed through Vivid Cinema's website, PWA and related features operated under the Vivid Cinema name. It should be read with our Terms of Use and Cookie Policy.
2. Who is responsible
Vivid Cinema is the public product name. The operator responsible for Vivid-operated processing should be identified by its full legal name, registered address and applicable registration details once those corporate details are finalised. We will not fabricate those details.
3. Information we may collect
- Account information: email address, authentication identifier and optional profile information.
- Library and preference information: saved titles, favourites, watch-later items, history or preferences when those features are used.
- Technical information: browser, device, approximate network information, diagnostic information and security signals needed by the relevant service.
- Support information: name, email, request category, message and optional screenshot submitted through Contact.
- Product interactions: searches, title requests, filters and similar information needed to operate discovery features.
4. Information we do not need
Do not send passwords, one-time codes, private keys, full payment-card numbers, government ID numbers or unrelated sensitive information through support channels. Vivid does not need those details for ordinary discovery or support.
5. How we use information
We may use information to provide and secure accounts; operate library features; answer support requests; provide search and catalogue functions; maintain, debug and improve the service; prevent abuse; protect users and systems; meet legal obligations; and enforce our Terms.
6. Lawful basis
Where Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843) applies, processing should have an appropriate lawful basis. Depending on the activity, that may include consent, performance of a service or contract, legal obligation, protection of rights, or another basis recognised by applicable law. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it, subject to lawful consequences and technical limitations.
7. Data-subject rights
Subject to applicable law and its exceptions, you may have rights concerning transparency, access, correction, objection, prevention or restriction of processing, deletion or other remedies. Ghana's Data Protection Commission provides regulatory information and complaint channels for data-protection matters.
Submit a request through Contact and select Privacy request. We may request reasonable verification before disclosing, changing or deleting account information. We will never ask for your password.
8. Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, account operation, security, dispute handling, legal obligations or other legitimate operational requirements. Retention can differ by category and provider. Local browser data remains until you clear it, the browser removes it, or the application overwrites it.
9. Service providers
Vivid may use third-party infrastructure and services including Firebase/Google for hosting, authentication and application infrastructure; TMDB for catalogue and availability data; YouTube for trailers; Formspree for contact-form processing; and other providers for embedded playback or live-channel functionality. These providers may process information on their own systems under their own policies.
Vivid uses Adcash Autotag to deliver advertising on site pages other than the watch/player page. When the advertising tag runs, Adcash and its partners may receive technical information such as your IP address, browser/device details, page URL and ad interactions, and may use cookies or similar technologies according to their own policies.
Search terms are sent to TMDB when needed to retrieve catalogue results. Vivid stores recent searches in local browser storage scoped to the active account; that history is not synced to Vivid account data, and raw search text is not uploaded as behaviour-event metadata. Previously synced search-query events are removed during the next successful account sync. TMDB receives the query needed to answer the request and handles it under its own policies.
10. Embedded and external services
When a third-party player, page, image, trailer or service is loaded, that provider may receive technical information directly from your browser. Third-party providers control their own systems and may set cookies or similar technologies. Review the relevant provider's privacy documentation before using an external service if that matters to you.
11. Sharing
We do not sell personal information as a business model. Information may be disclosed to service providers needed to operate requested features, to protect users or systems, to investigate abuse, or when disclosure is required or permitted by law.
12. International processing
Some providers may process information outside Ghana or your country of residence. Where cross-border processing applies, the operator should assess the applicable legal requirements and safeguards for the particular transfer and provider relationship.
13. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards appropriate to the service, including encrypted transport, access controls and security-focused hosting configuration. No internet service can guarantee absolute security. Credible security incidents are investigated and handled in accordance with applicable obligations.
14. Cookies and local storage
Vivid uses browser storage and similar mechanisms for preferences, application state and selected library functionality. Third-party services can use their own technologies when loaded. See the Cookie Policy for more detail.
Advertising technologies may set or read third-party cookies or similar identifiers. You can manage these through browser settings; blocking them may affect ad delivery.
15. Children
Vivid is not intentionally designed to collect personal information from children who are not legally able to consent to the relevant processing. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
16. Privacy complaints
You can first contact Vivid through Contact. If you are in Ghana, you may also contact the Data Protection Commission using its official complaint and regulatory channels.
17. Changes
We may update this Notice when our services, processing activities or legal obligations change. The effective date will always appear near the top. Material changes will be explained clearly where appropriate.
18. Contact
For access, correction, deletion, objection, privacy questions or security concerns, use Contact Vivid Cinema. Include only the information necessary to identify and resolve the request.
